This is a hit song from the movie "Sivantha Mann", starring Sivaji, Kanchana, Nagesh, Nambiar, Ranga Rao and others. The movie was directed by Sridhar and had not well at the box office. The songs were a hit, in particular this one. The songs are bound to be hits when you have a combination of the likes of MSV, TMS, P Susheela, Kannadasan and Sivaji. Kanchana was introduced by Sridhar in the earlier block buster of his "Kaadhalikka Naeramillai". We can't say the movie did not do well since it was ahead of its time. Manmadha Leelai is a Tamil-language film starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role, Madhu. The film directed by K Balachander also has Halam (Rekha) as Madhu's wife. A number of women actors debuted through this film, including Jayaprada as Kannagi, Y. Vijaya as Miss. Wrong Number, among others. The film also marked the debut of actor Radha Ravi, son of popular actor M. R. Radha. The film explores the life journey of a womaniser (Kamal Hassan) and his affairs with various women, including those who are married, and tells finally that nothing will last forever except one's own wife's love and others are passing clouds.

Balachander's directorial finesse shows in most of the scenes in the film. Even though it stirred up controversies, when it was released, later it became a cult classic. This rare to hear song has been sung by Vani Jayaram and TMS. Music is by M S Viswanathan and lyrics by Kannadasan. This is Vani Jayaram's (VJ) first song for a MGR film - the Pillayar Suzhi for a short but glorious chapter of VJ's songs for MGR starrers. The movie was directed by S.S.Balan- S.S.Vasan's son. Other songs include the alluring "Konja neram ennai marandhen"(TMS,SJ) and the appealing "Mera naam Abdul Rehman"(TMS).

Karthi seems to be having a dream run in Kollywood. He is like a batsman in in prime form smashing all deliveries to boundary. As long as you are not ready to complain that 'Siruithai' lacks logic, the film would work big time, as it is an out and out commercial fare.Adding to his list of entertainers is 'Siruthai'. Fast and furious from the word go, the movie comes with a sole purpose to provide entertainment and with no pretensions achieves the purpose.

The actor manages to pull it off convincingly donning a dual role in the film for the first time - that of a callous local youth and a tough cop. Karthi has not merely run through the motion but gives his heart and soul in the characters. Be it a fun-loving Rocket Raja or the angry policeman Rathnavel pandian, Karthi brings both astute on screen. He combines the Anbuselvan of 'Kakkha Kaakha' and the Sakthi of 'Pithamagan', made famous by his brother Suriya. At ease and at his self in dual roles, Karthi spells his charm all through.

Not far behind is Tamannah. The 'Paiyaa' duo of Tamannah and Karthi recreates the same chemistry on screen. Tammanah as bubbly innocent girl spells magic. A complex character made with ease by her. After a brief interval, she gets a role in which she really sparkles.

Add Santhanam for humour, and the end product is breezy and entertaining. As usual the comedian has audience in splits with his one-liners. He combines the grace of veteran Goundamani and presents them in his unique way, scaling success movie after movie. Mega Nair (of 'Thangam' fame) plays a woman police and has a bearing in the script.

Then there is Avinash, Rajiv Kanakala among others who do the job given to them with consummate ease Walking away with honours is Vidyasagar. The man of melody has come up with a cocktail of peppy and soft numbers, while Velraj's cinematography is the talking point of the movie. The action sequences featuring Karthi as cop is major plus for 'Siruthai'

This splendid melody by Udit Narayanan and Charmukhi sounds perfect for a duet number. Shot across the exotic locales of Mauritius. Devi Sri Prasad impresses with foot-taping peppy numbers. The combined effort of Manush Nandhan's camera capturing the huge cruiser and the landscapes of Paris, DSP's racy re-recording and the wizardry of Kamal Haasan and Ravikumar makes the movie count.

Kamal Haasan is there right in every department. Be it the dialogues or the subtle silent expressions, he is breezy and entertaining. He is as solid as Sachin Tendulkar, fresh even after completing 50 centuries on the Test cricket ground. His one-liners and the agile stunt sequences are a delight for audience. Kamal has ensured that his fans are not disappointed all through.

Madhavan plays a bubbly romantic youth. The complex character of an over-possessive lover is handled well by him. Trisha is not far behind. She matches Kamal Haasan in every scene with her performance. Especially her subtle emotions, cherubic dance deserve a special mention.

Sangeetha is apt for the role. She casually dons it and gives one of her best. Also the likes of Ramesh Aravind Urvashi as Ramesh Aravind's wife Mallika, Kitty and Usha Uthup among others impresses. Malayalam stars Manju Pillai and Kunjan, who play producers running behind Trisha for dates, strike with their comical performance.

This particular song has been penned and sung by Kamal himself. Kamal’s style of rendition is same as in his yesteryear album ‘Vasool Raja MBBS’ for the song ‘Love Pannada’. The lyrical lines by Kamal Haasan are funny yet realistic. Sounds like the title song and can we expect Kamal Haasan shaking legs after a long time. Lines like – Rich man pay Crores of contribution to God and bargain for vegetables. It’s sure to be a chartbuster for this season. Devi Sri Prasad’s usual tactics of beats and instrumentals are good.

This song is a scene depicting a real life incident in the life of Subramaniya Iyer aka Abhirami Pattar. Subramaniya Iyer was born to one Amirthalinga Iyer in the village of Thirukadaiyur. Tirukkadaiyur was one of the agraharams established by the Maratha ruler Serfoji I, a great admirer of Brahmin poets and bards, in the early part of the 18th century. The village was famous for its temple to Lord Shiva. Right from his childhood, Subramaniya Iyer was drawn to the temple and the Goddess. As he grew Subramaniya Iyer developed a fanatical devotion to Goddess Abhirami. He would sit in a corner of the temple meditating upon the Goddess and singing her praises. As time passed, he was forever immersed in meditation upon the Goddess that he began to observe the supposed likeliness of the Goddess in the persona of the women around him and often showered them with flowers. According to sources, soon, a particular section of the populace began to regard him as a madman. One day, Raja Serfoji, the Maratha Raja of Thanjavur who ruled over the land, visited the temple to pay homage to Lord Shiva. On noticing the peculiar behavior of Subramaniya Iyer who was a temple priest, he inquired the other priests about the individual. One of them remarked that he was a madman while another rejected this categorization explaining to the king that Subramaniya Iyer was only an ardent devotee of Goddess Abhirami. Seeking to know the truth himself, Serfoji approached the priest and asked him what day of the month it was i.e. whether it was a full-moon day or a new-moon day. Subramaniya Iyer who could see nothing else but the shining luminant form of the Goddess before him wrongly answered that it was a full-moon day while it was in fact a new-moon day. The king rode off informing the former that he would have his head cut off if the moon did not appear on the sky by six in the night.

Immediately realizing his mistake, Subramaniya Iyer supposedly lit a huge fire and erected a platform over it supported by a hundred ropes. He sat upon the platform and prayed to the Goddess Abhirami to save him. He cut off one rope after another in succession on completion of each verse of his prayer. These hymns form the Abhirami Anthadhi. On completion of the 79th hymn,the Goddess Abhirami manifested herself before him and threw her earring over the sky such that it shone with bright light upon the horizon. Overcome with ecstasy, Subramaniya Iyer composed 22 more verses in praise of the Goddess.

The king repented his mistake and immediately cancelled the punishment he had awarded Subramaniya Iyer. He also bestowed upon the latter the title of "Abirami Pattar" or "priest of Goddess Abhirami" and supposedly awarded his successors the privilege of using the title "Bharathi".

Ajith had revealed in an interview he had suggested the idea of remaking such popular movies even before the trend of remaking old movies had started but then the idea had not been accepted by the producers and directors. Once the trend of remaking old movies picked up about two years back Ajith had done this movie and it had gone on to become a huge hit. But when the same team of Ajith and Nayanthara came together again for the remake of Main Hoon Na (Aegan) it failed at the Box Office.

This is a magical song that has its origins 2000 years back from the Sangam period of Tamil Naadu. This version is sort of an abridged version of the original Classical Tamil Literature song by Nakkeeranaar, Thiru Murugaatruppadai, which is part of the Sangam Literature collection Pathuppaattu. Legend has it that Lord Muruga appeared before Nakkeeranaar with his consorts to bless him to bless him even before he had completed the literary work.
